Maternity Session at Home in Charlotte
There’s something truly magical (& somewhat overwhelming) about the final days before a new baby arrives—especially when that new arrival is actually two! I had the honor of photographing a Charlotte-area family in the comfort of their own home, documenting the last precious moments of life as a family of three before they welcomed twin babies into their world.

The Beauty of Home Sessions
Maternity sessions are always special, but there’s something incredibly intimate and authentic about capturing a family in their own space. Home is where the little moments unfold—where bedtime stories are read, where toddler giggles fill the air, and where love is felt in the quiet in-between moments. For this family, it was the perfect setting to celebrate the journey from three to five.

A Day in Their Life
From the moment I walked through the door, I could feel the excitement and anticipation in the air. Their soon-to-be big sibling, a bright-eyed preschooler, was eager to show me their favorite toys and snuggle up with mom and dad. Rather than posing in a traditional way, we focused on documentary-style storytelling—real, unscripted moments that captured their genuine love and connection.
We played in the living room, made some breakfast, visited the nursery with two cribs, read some books with cuddles that felt warm and inviting. I know Mom and Dad soaked in these last days of just the three of them, cherishing the sweet cuddles, laughter, and gentle reminders that change was on the horizon.

Why Documentary-Style Maternity Photos Matter
Maternity photography doesn’t always have to be about flowing gowns and golden sunsets. Choosing a documentary-style session at home allows for a deeper connection to the moments that matter most. It tells a story—a story of transition, of love, and of a home that will soon be filled with even more laughter, hugs, cries, and tiny feet (also sleep deprivation, but that's for another day, lol).

A Lasting Legacy
As this family prepares to welcome their twins, these images will serve as a beautiful reminder of where their journey began. Years from now, they’ll look back at these photographs and remember the feeling of holding their firstborn close, the anticipation of the unknown, and the love that carried them through this transition.
If you’re expecting in the Charlotte area and want to capture the raw beauty of your family’s journey in a meaningful way, consider an at-home documentary maternity session. These moments—your moments—are worth remembering just as they are.
