Last year, Natalie Mae and I were supposed to do her senior portraits. Life shifted (as it so often does), and instead of forcing a moment that had already passed, we waited. And honestly? I’m so glad we did. This year, we created something even more fitting: a branding session for Natalie as she steps into the next chapter, sharing her voice at upcoming music gigs and carving out space for herself as an artist.
Natalie has one of those voices that stops you in your tracks. Powerful, emotional, and grounded in a way that feels far beyond her years. She is, without question, one of the most talented singers I’ve ever seen perform live. Photographing her wasn’t about posing or pretending, it was about honoring who she already is.
I’ve had the privilege of knowing Natalie for the past 3.5 years through theatre shows, watching her grow not just as a performer, but as a human. She shows up with kindness, professionalism, and quiet confidence. She’s also been such a beautiful role model & formed a bond with my oldest daughter, she is someone who leads with creativity, humility, and heart. That alone makes this session incredibly meaningful to me.
For her branding photos, we leaned into what inspires her most: ABBA’s timeless artistry, the grounding pull of nature, and the balance of the sun and the moon. Strength and softness. Light and shadow. Joy and depth. Every choice, from movement to expression, was about capturing that duality. Natalie doesn’t just sing songs; she tells stories, and I wanted her images to feel like they could sing too.
This session was about stepping fully into herself as an artist. Watching Natalie claim that space with confidence and grace is such an honor.
Natalie Mae, the stage is lucky to have you. And I cannot wait to see where your voice takes you next.
