Senior year is a once-in-a-lifetime experience—and your senior portraits should reflect everything that makes you unique. Whether you're an artist, an athlete, a future engineer, or someone still figuring it all out, your session is all about capturing your personality and passions. At a recent session, we spotlighted a senior heading to the UNC School of the Arts to study Sound Design. We even visited their favorite theater space where they’ve worked on countless productions—bringing their story to life in a way that felt true to them. That’s the beauty of a senior session: it’s entirely yours.

If you're wondering what to expect, you're in the right place. Here's a step-by-step breakdown of how your senior photo session will go, plus tips to make the most of it!

Step 1: Let’s Make a Plan

Once you book your session, we’ll start with a questionnaire via email. This is where we start dissecting:

  • Your vision: What kind of vibe do you want—urban, natural, artsy, sporty?
  • Locations you love: From uptown Charlotte’s edgy city feel to the gardens at Wing Haven to the trails at Freedom Park or to a community hub like Matthews Playhouse.
  • Outfit ideas: Most seniors bring 2–4 outfits. We'll make sure your clothing choices complement your personality and your location.

Step 2: The Photo Session

Sessions usually last 60–90 minutes and are super relaxed. I’ll guide you with easy posing prompts that feel natural—no stiff smiles here!

We'll explore multiple spots in the area you choose for your photos. Whether it’s murals in Camp North End, sunset fields at Wise Acres Organic Farm, or a classic downtown feel like Monroe, the Charlotte area has no shortage of stunning backdrops.

Don’t worry if you’re nervous—within the first few shots, you’ll feel confident and totally at ease.

Step 3: The Sneak Peek + Final Gallery

You’ll get a sneak peek within a few days (because I know you’ll be excited!). Your edited gallery will be ready within 1–2 weeks.

From there, you can select your favorite images for digital download, prints, albums, graduation announcements, or social media posts. I offer professional-quality print options and custom photo products made to last a lifetime.
