What is a lifestyle family session?

If you're thinking about getting family photos done, but the idea of outfits getting dirty, kid's behavior, partner's behavior, location finding, and all the "known" drama of family photos makes you anxious.... you're in the right place. I'm here to tell you all about a lifestyle family session and how it works.

As a Charlotte family photographer that specializes in lifestyle family sessions, I create photos that capture who you are, the bright, colorful, awesome family that truly exists and that can be done in the comfort of your own home!

Family sessions can be overwhelming, but I'm here to take the anxiety out of it for you! You don't have to be on time because you're already home! If you're still working on getting ready when I arrive, no problem, I'll take a look around your home, searching for some fun areas to photograph in and also allow the time for the kiddos to get to know me and get used to me being there.

Before every session I send a questionnaire to get to know you and to help plan out your session. We work together on planning the timing around your availability, what you'd like to capture, and even around naps! I want to know what is important to YOU to capture and I'll let you know exactly how a session runs and help guide you through the lifestyle session before it even happens. While things can go off "track", that is perfectly okay because I'm never in a rush and we are there to move with flow and capture the magic of your family.

Need a snack break? Awesome! Let's capture that memory too! I mean, that's real, that's the stuff memories are made of, making a million snacks a day for the constant "I'm hungry"s. Am I right???

When it comes to light... I use natural light, so sometimes a room is light and bright, other times it may be a bit dark in a room or space that we are in, and that is OKAY! While I love sun light, it isn't always guaranteed, but moments aren't about always about light, they're about making memories. Shadows are a REAL thing, lol. They're meant to be there, they're art and mood setting, just as full, bright light is. We will have fun with it!

That's what makes lifestyle photography so much fun, if it's raining out, we can still photograph your family in your home, we aren't at the mercy of rescheduling, we will capture rainy day fun!
